Description

Site of the pre-Roman Iron Age oppidum known as Sheepen. Oppidum occupied from mid 1st century BC but Sheepen site can be dated from c. 10 BC although there may have been a landing place here previously. Occupation continued into the Roman period with gravel digging and small-scale industries.
