Summary

Two pits (F2 and F3) containing Roman pottery and animal bone were identified during a watching brief of narrow gas trench (450mm wide x 600mm deep), within the precinct of Temple 2, to connect to the new science and food technology building.

Full Description

Two pits (F2 and F3) containing Roman pottery and animal bone were identified cut into natural (L5). They were both large features measuring 4m and 2m across respectively. Neither was fully excavated.<1>

A lot of residual Roman material was recovered from L2, c.400mm thick above the natural L5.
