Full Description

A Roman wall built of dressed Kentish ragstone with tile courses. The wall ran roughly east-west with a short return at the south west corner. The footings consisted of 10 to 12 inches of mortar standing on the subsoil. The wall appeared to have acted as a retaining wall but its exact purpose is unknown. The wall was in existence during the period of the adjacent kiln activity (see MCC1430, MCC1431 and MCC1432) but its exact date could not be determined.<1>
