Description

Excavations of three Roman kilns known from the 1955 diggings of Mr.H.C.Calver and others (see ECC44). Work on behalf of the Museum was undertaken between August and September 1959 by students and other volunteers under the immediate direction of Mr.Bryan Blake of Colchester Castle Museum and the general supervision of Rex Hull. Excavation was prompted by the desire to add the kilns to the Research Report on the work of 1933.<1>
