Full Description

The Colchester Excavation Committee excavated the site of a large Romano-Celtic temple at St Helena School in 1935 (See MCC604 for Precinct). The foundations were heavily robbed, the foundation trenches were full of chips of septaria and mortar, most of the latter very pink and of fine quality. Pottery of 1st-4th century date and black and white tesserae were recovered. See <1> for detailed report.
