Description
The Lion Walk excavation took place between 1971 and 1974 ahead of the construction of the Lion Walk shopping precinct. Destruction of archaeological remains was substantial but large areas had to be left unexamined or were only machine stripped. Evidence of the Roman fortress, colony, Boudican destruction and Colonia buildings were recovered as well as Anglo-Saxon and Medieval activity.<1>
