Full Description

Room 3a of the medieval stone house at Lion Walk (CAT Building 28) contained the remains of a baby burial in a shallow grave (GF224), about 0.2m below contemporary (i.e. medieval) ground level; the burial is below the room (and predates the room). The burial was without a coffin and lay on its back with its head to the west. The room is dated to Phase 1 of the building, c.1150-1500. <1>
