Description
Rescue excavations took place ahead of the construction of the Telephone Exchange Tower in 1966. Work lasted from late April to mid-July during which time as much of the area of the building plans allowed was excavated to the natural subsoil. The area excavated and alignment of the trenches was determined by the building plans. The site overlay a small area on the eastern side of Insula 10, part of Insula 11 and a N to S street (between the insulae). Five phases of activity were defined and included timber buildings, pits, a drain and the street.<1>
