Full Description

Entry in Wire's diary, 27.9.1844 - "Mr Baker ... informs me that a tessellated pavement composed of different coloured cubes has recently been discovered at the rear of his premises". NGR above as per location on map in Hull (source 1). <1> <2> hull's entries 11 and 10 (12435 and 12434) "clearly refer to the same pavement as shown by Cutts who was unaware of nay other, and all probably refer to No 8 (12433) which is probably the position of it according to H Laver. Cutts position cannot be relied upon. No 9 (12434) may be another pavement altogether". Locations of Hull's nos. 8-11 (12433-12435) are as positioned by Wheeler and Laver. <1> RCHM notes tessellated pavements found - possibly the same one as 12433 or 12434. <3>
