Full Description

Roman pavement, S of High Street, 80 yards S of East Hill House. <1> <2> A pavement is shown on the 1:500 map 40ft S of East Hill House (not 80 yards as JRS and RCHM have it), with no other information. <3> <4> Laver * the innacuracy stating the correct distance to be 50 ft, and saying (in 1924), "I am informed some evidence of this pavement remains to this day". <5>

A magnetomer and topographic survey was carried out in the grounds of East Hill House. A negative linear anomoly running N-S is possibly a street, revetment, or terrace.<6>
