Full Description

One of ten test pits excavated in West Mersea in 2009 as part of an ongoing investigation organised by Cambridge University (Access Cambridge Archaeology). These were sited to fill gaps not previously excavated, and also to focus on the eastern part of the present village which had seen little previous test pitting. This test pit produced a wide range of pottery dating from the 12th century onwards.<1><2><3>
