Description

In his book, 'Colchester Baptist Church - the First 300 Years, 1689-1989', Henry Spyvee mentions that the Bus depot in Queen Street was the site of the former manse of Eld Lane Baptist Church. The church was approached in 1901 by Colchester Council who wanted to buy the site to use as a tramways depot. The site was finally acquired in 1904. No evidence is stated here of surviving building fabric dating back to this period or evidence of tram use. <1>
