Full Description

Trumpingtons Farm is a historic farmstead located to the southwest of the settlement of Great Tey and to the northwest of the settlement of Little Tey. The farm was first shown on the 1897-1904 Epoch 2 map to be a large detached site made up of six buildings. Approximately 10% of these buildings have been demolished between 1904 and 1922, with an extremely high amount of the site surviving. This includes three listed buildings, which are the Grade II listed C15 house, Trumpingtons (LB Number: 1223335), the Grade II listed C17 barn to the northwest of Trumpingtons (LB Number: 1223256), and the Grade II listed c.1800 barn to the northeast of the barn to the northwest of Trumpingtons (LB Number: 1267359). There have been a high number of modern buildings added to the north of the site, suggesting that the site's use is still agricultural. There have also been some modern additions and extension to the original buildings, completed between 1955 and the present. The original map shows the remains of a moat at the southern edge of the farmstead. This has survived into modern times. <1>
