Full Description

Hull suggests that the Roman Rye Gate may have lain at the end of Maidenburgh Street, where the Roman town wall disappears under a mound. An arch noted by Duncan (source 2) as in the last house in Maidenburgh Street could be coonnected with a putative gate. <1> <2>
