Full Description

At this point, the railway line runs along a high embankment and across a small bridge to allow a wide track to pass beneath. Beside the track, at the foot of the embankment on its east side, is an hexagonal, brick and concrete pillbox. It is 18ft across, 21in thick, 7ft high and has a low entrance on the west face. There are large steel surrounds to the loopholes, each measuring 24in high x 18in wide with a 9 x 6 inch aperture. There is a 6ft diameter anti-aircraft machine-gun well with a concrete mounting pedestal although the steel fitttings are missing. Contemporary records refer to this pillbox as no. S66.<1>
