Late 15th or early 16th century house with 17th century extension to the rear.

RCHME survey of No's 38-39 East Hill. The house was built probably in the 15th century. At the back is a 16th or 17th century extension. The upper storey projects on the north front on curved brackets and also on the east side of the extension. Inside the building at the back of the front block was an original doorway with a four centred head; the head is now lying loose in the garden. <1>

Timber framed plastered and painted except No 42 which has a red brick front. Sash windows, mostly with glazing bars. Two storey with attics, cellars. Tiled roofs. Upper storey projects on the front on curved brackets, and also on east side of rear extension. <3>
