Full Description

The Late Iron Age Settlement of Camulodunum. Translation 'The fortress of the war god Camulos'. An extensive area, bounded by a curvilinear dyke system to the west, the Roman River to the South and the Colne River to the north. The area encloses twelve square miles, within which were a number of activity zones; a Royal farmstead at Gosbecks, burial areas at Lexden and Colchester Cemetery and a manufacturing and trading area at Sheepen.<1>
