Full Description

The discovery, while digging a hole for a linen-post c.5ft. from the east end of the garden path, of an amphora led to an excavation at 13 Rawstorn Road. At the north end of the north south trench remains of what appeared to be walling or foundations were discovered, including septaria, mortar, one whole large building tile and parts of others. The wall appeared to continue in a northerly direction under the north fence of the garden and into the garden of No 10 Papillon Road. It was covered up and should still exist under the grass. Other trial holes were dug in the part of the garden nearer the house but with no result.<1>
