Full Description

A robbed-out east-west Roman wall discovered during excavations by Colchester Archaeological Group in the garden of St Mary's Rectory, 1965 (ECC942). The wall was at right angles to an adjacent north-south wall (MCC2034). This wall together with other adjacent walls (MCC2036, MCC2037) and a tessellated pavement (MCC2039) were interpreted by the excavator as belonging to a 4th century 'dwelling house'.<1>
