Description

Excavation of a Roman timber lined well halfway along the south side of Everett's Brickworks, to the north-east of the walled town. The excavation was undertaken by a Lt.Comm. Farrands and Mr. Young under the direction of Stanley West of Ipswich Museum. Work was undertaken at weekends in hot weather. In the autumn someone interfered with the site and the weather broke so that the digging was postponed until the following spring. On return to the site it was found to have been covered over by the owner of the yard.<1><2>
