A pre-determination trial-trenched evaluation was undertaken in June 2018, comprising 11 trial trenches and 349m of trenching (each trench 1.8m wide) of the 1.30ha. site. Topsoil (L1) which varied from c.0.30m to 0.55m thick, was defined over natural across the site. Archaeological features were defined in all trenches except T7. Small quantities of finds that dated to the prehistoric period (Neolithic, Bronze Age and Iron Age) and Roman period were recovered from several features located in five trenches (T2, T5, T6B, T9 and T11), which meant that few features could be firmly dated. Based on the finds, three possible prehistoric features, a ?Bronze Age pit (F9 in T6), ?Iron Age ditch (F3 in T2) and ?prehistoric pit (F17 in T5), were excavated as well as two ditches (F19 and F20 in T11, F21 and F22 in T9) and a pit (F22 in T9) of Roman date. Undated features consisted of five ditches, three pits, a posthole, a ditch/pit, two pits/tree-throws and three tree-throws/natural features.<1>
