Description
Excavation by owner (Mr White) in rear garden uncovered Roman road with two phases of metalling. The earliest phase was well preserved, the surface being 0.45m below ground level and its make-up 0.1m thick. Surface of later phase had beeen destroyed but 0.1m of its make-up had survived. Mr White believed there were indications of a ditch aligned east-west along the roads southern edge.
