Site of St Mary's Church, Layer Breton, demlished in 1915. There was a church on this site, opposite Layer Breton Hall, by 1329. In 1768 Morant described it as, "of one piece with the chancel, both tiled. In a wooden turret there is one bell".

Nave C14, chancel C14 rebuilt and west tower C15 rebuilt. Badly damaged in the 1884 earthquate and extensively rebuilt in the late C19.

Early C14 hall house extensively altered in the late C16 and late C18.

Site of a building of unknown date (site 11580).

Scatter of pottery and flints found by Mr Martin Jeffrey during fieldwalking, including a few fragments of unglazed medieval pot and one undecorated rim.

Scatter of Roman and Medieval pottery the latter probably mid C13.

The first chapel built here in c.1360 and destroyed 1648.

Church of St Margaret, Aldham, constructed in 1854-5 by E.C. Hakewill and built of old materials (including C13 and C14 features) on a new site. The original church (see MCC7512), demolished in 1855, was located over 1km to the south-west.
