Author/Originator | Terry, India |
Date/Year | 2022 |
Abstract/Summary
Magnitude Surveys was commissioned to assess the subsurface potential of a c. 9.6ha area of land
near Tiptree, Essex. A fluxgate gradiometer survey was successfully completed across the survey
area. Modern interference was generally limited to field boundaries and a buried service. Anomalies
of agricultural origins were identified in the form of mapped and unmapped former boundaries, a
former trackway and modern ploughing trends. Modern activity was identified in the form of a
former hedge maze. Numerous anomalies throughout the survey area have been classified as
undetermined as it has not been possible to definitively determine whether these anomalies are the
result of archaeological, agricultural, modern, or natural processes.
