Full Description

The Green is shown on the 1777 Chapman & Andre Historic Map, located where the settlement of Abberton is now. The green is shown on this map to be an irregularly shaped site, with two thin linear sections following the roads to the south. It has an area of c.12ha. The map shows a number of buildings surrounding the green. These include the Grade II listed C16/C17 house Pete Tye Hill (LB Number: 1337390) and the Grade II listed late C17 Old Cottage (LB Number: 1169960). At this time, the Green extends south along Peldon Road, joining Peete-tye (MCC9156) to the south of it. The Green does not appear on any other maps, so it must have been developed over at some point before 1874.<1>
