Full Description

Red hill investigated by William Cole in 1892, located (Cole records in 1906) 'on the "Grassy-Marsh" (inside the sea wall) on Ivy House Farm' and 'on the piece of marsh near East Mersea Stone (6 inch Ordnance Sheet 47 N.E.), less than a quarter of a mile from the water. It contained briquetage, T-pieces and some harder wares which included 2 (intrusive?) fragments of yellow-glazed ware.<1>
