Full Description
Red hill RH 89 (Langenhoe III), excavated in 1906. Finds consisted of briquetage, late Iron age pottery, animal bone, and in particular an omphalos bowl and pedestal urn, both of which were in a slight hollow under the red hill.<1><4> Nothing visible on aerial photographs.<1> The omphalos bowl has a flat tooled interlocking arc pattern and circular stamps, but the rim is missing. There is also a pot decorated with double concentric circle stamps and flat tooled lines. The site is now destroyed.<2> Other refs: <3><5>-<9><13>
The extent of the red hill was mapped as part of the NMP update August 2009 and was visible on the 2000 AP's and google earth images.<11>-<12>
