Full Description

pipe trench dug along the street was dug through the stump of a Roman wall under the modern street. Part of the rampart appeared to be in situ to the S of it. Farther down the street was a tessellated pavement at a depth of c.1.45m (seen only by the digger driver) and a Roman foundation of brick and yellow mortar at a depth of 2.8m. <1>
