Full Description

During construction of new houses the foundations generally did not reach Roman levels. At one point the trenches did penetrate Roman levels revealing much broken opus signinum - not in situ - which may have been a badly damaged floor. A second point exposed some Roman levels (sandy clay loam) and an early Medieval robber trench. <1>
