Full Description

4 service trenches dug across the SE part of the Crescent. A right-angled corner of a Roman wall was found in trench 3 - tile on top with ?septaria below. Roman road gravel belonging to the N-S street exposed in Trench 2. Trench 3 was in 2 parts, the N one cut the Roman wall; elsewhere was a damaged Roman floor of opus signinum over a ?makeup of sandy clay. Significant were various finds of marble in TRenches 3 and 4 which add to the already substantial collection from the temple precinct. <1>
