Full Description

REdevelopment of the site; 2 stanchion holes and a foundation trench inspected. The largest stanchion hole provided a section across the Roman rampart behind the town wall. The rampart section proved to be similar in many respects to the Lion Walk section, ie it was multi phase, embodied at least one temporary street and was predated by a substantial metalled street. The only find was part of a base of a large unstratified redware pot of C14-C16 date. <1>
