Full Description

Extension to the S side of the existing building. The bottom of the cutting into the side of a bank of earth between Abbeygate House and Southway exposed a layer of tightly packed small stones, probably part of a road. The stratigraphy seemed to indicate the gravel faeture was relatively early Roman but the position might be more in keeping with a medieval context. <1>
