Full Description

In March 1938 the back entrance to the National Omnibus Company's Garage was made and a long trench for a drain cut eastwards from Queen Street. This largely uncovered part of the N-S street (see ). The eastern c.14ft were inside the insula and of these the western 7ft comprised an excavation filled with black soil containing mortar. Further E a layer of black soil possibly continuous with the filling of the excavation to the W contained pieces of Roman mortar and tiles. <1>
