Full Description

Contractors trenches (0.7 - 1.0m deep) cut through the remains of a Roman building. Only one foundation was detected (greensand in yellow mortar) lying obliquely across site. To south of this foundation, there were remains of yellowish mortar 50mm thick which in one place had skin of white plaster indicating the base of tessellated or mosaic pavement. The foundation of a post-medieval wall was also recorded (see MCC8055).<1>
