Full Description

Wire recorded the discovery of a pavement in the garden of house 3 doors N of the Independent Chapel some time before 1846. "It is possibly the same as the small area 2ft square, exposed on 29 January 1923 in the garden of No.17, 70ft from the E face of the house". The tesserae are red, less than 1" square and laid NE-SW. Also noted in Laver's Diary. <1> <2> <3>
