Full Description

"Information has reached me from a private source, that a number of years ago, the person then residing at the above address found some pieces of Roman flooring, the usual `tesserae' of approx one inch across, when cultivating the garden". The find was not reported at the time as the occupier did not wish any excavation to occur. No 11 is one of a row of terraced houses dating from the C18 or C19, near the junction of Northgate Street and Short Cut Road. Property at the back of No 11 has been demolished and the area is occupied by a car park. Colchester Museum have been informed but they have information on this matter in connection with the car park in Short Cut Road. <1>
