Full Description

During excavations at Culver Street between 1981-2 and 1984-5 (ECC337), an early Roman drain was discovered lying along the east end of the south wall of Barrack Block MCC753. The drain consisted of a neatly-cut trench with vertical sides although there was no trace of decayed wood. At the western end of the drain was a short north-south slot which ended in the probable water-main (MCC768). Its function is obscure.<1>
