Full Description

Cropmarks - parallel linear features, possibly trackways. <1><2><3><4> See 11901-3 for finds made during fieldwalking.

A magnetometer survey was carried out by Peter Cott in the summer of 2000, of an area 80 x 80m, which defined a series of linear features (ditches). This was followed in summer 2002 of an area 200m long x 120m wide, by Colchester Archaeological Group. Various parallel ditches were defined (which show up as cropmarks on aerial photographs taken by Ida MacMaster) and possibly structural features (potentially a Roman villa-type building given the amount of Roman roof tile, also some hypocuast tile recovered from the site).<8>
