Description
A magnetometer survey was carried out by Peter Cott in the summer of 2000, of an area 80 x 80m, which defined a series of linear features (ditches). This was followed in summer 2002 of an area 200m long x 120m wide, using an FM18 Flugate Gradiometer. The survey was carried out at 1m x 0.25m resolution although a few squares were re-surveyed at a higher resolution of 0.5 x 0.25m. The data was processed using InSite software from Geoquest. Various parallel ditches were defined (which show up as cropmarks on aerial photographs taken by Ida MacMaster) and possibly structural features (potentially a Roman villa-type building given the amount aRoman roof tile, also some hypocuast tile recovered from the site).<1>
