Full Description

During excavations at Culver Street between 1981-2 and 1984-5 (ECC337), an early Roman timber drain was discovered situated in the street (MCC763) on the south side of the barrack building (MCC755). The drain ran from east-west with fragments of the timber lining surviving as charred wood. The drain could not be excavated so it in unknown whether it was military or civilian in origin.<1>
