Full Description

Speed's map of 1610 shows the houses in Insula 3 forming an almost perfect quarter-circle, and the block in which they stand is continued in a more angular form in Insula 4. "In general there is sufficient similarity to the plan of the houses standing round the site of the theatre at Vieil Evreux to cause us to suspect a theatre site here. The space thus demonstarated measures 350ft E-W and 250ft N-S, measuring from the face of the town wall. This is room for a large theatre. <1>
