Full Description

During previous excavations in Middle Field an Iron Age ditch system has been found (see 9204). during observation of a pipe-line strip a dark area of disturbance was observed. Rapid excavation unearthed several fragments of grey late Iron Age pottery, apparently of similar date to that found in earlier excavations. Among them was a white base sherd, form Cam 113 (in Colchester Museum - same Acc No's as previous pottery finds). This new find area was c.130m from the previous finds. If part of the system, this is an indication that it is an extensive one. APs have so far only revealed? cropmarks of the field drainage system.<1><2>
