Full Description

C15-C16 house with C17 chimney stacks. House was much altered and refronted in C18. <1> In 1960 OS reported house to be in a poor state with all valuable internal fittings removed. Apart from chimneystacks house showed mainly C18 details. <2> OS photo-card in SMR. <3> C15-C16 house, restyled in the early C18, retaining medieval features (see 9175). The C18 interior is of good quality. The parapet was extended at this time, removing the medieval eaves at the front. Good oaken sash windows, with sliding shutters. C18 cartlodge with granary over north of Rotchfords. Timber-framed on red brick footings, clad with black weather-boards. <4>
