Summary

Cropmarks defined by aerial photography: rectilinear enclosures and pits. A geophysical survey in 2013-14 of an small area of the field located a number of linear features that suggest ditched enclosures (interpreted as Roman but could be later), together with the outline of a more substantial rectilinear or 'L' -shaped feature, and several unusually large pit like features.

Full Description

Cropmarks: rectilinear enclosures and pits. <1> <2> <3> <4>

A geophysical survey was undertaken in 2013-14 by CAG of an area 100m by 100m in the NE corner of the field centred on TL 930 277, the approximate location of an excavation in 1984 of two Roman inhumation burials. The survey located a number of linear features that suggest ditched enclosures (interpreted as Roman but could be later), together with the outline of a more substantial rectilinear or 'L' -shaped feature, and several unusually large pit like features.<5>
