Full Description

Moat. <1> Manorial. <2> Large, complete subrectangular homestead moat situated on level ground measuring overall 140m E-W x 135m N-S. Arms have average width of 5m and are waterfilled from surface drainage. East arm widens to 16m at SE angle; at SW and NW angles there are extensions of 20m x 14m and 12m x 13m respectively. <3> Incomplete, irregular moat. <4> Sketch plan on back MSRG card. <5> Florie's Farm is probably to be associated with the family of Hugh de Flori (1284). Also mentioned in 1412 (`Flory(e)s'), and 1573. <6>
