Full Description

As well as building extensively in Earls Colne, Reuben Hunt also built a number of houses between Earls Colne and Great Tey. In the village of Great Tey itself are three groups of houses. Nos. 1 - 6 Brook Road are two terraces of three cottages of red brick under plain tiled roofs. Original solid wood doors and sash windows with large panes mainly survive. Some porches and extensions have been added. The plaques on these two terraces are inscribed M.H. 1897, but to whom the 'M.H.' refers is unclear as Reuben had two daughters with those initials - Minnie and Mary. <1>
