Full Description

During groundworks associated with the repair of the medieval building previous floor surfaces and the original medieval ground-level were exposed beneath the floorboards. Timber and brick foundations were revealed and there was evidence of the underpinning of wooden sole plates with peg-tile A wall and a vaulted ceiling to a cellar dating to the late 17th or 18th century was exposed. The groundworks did not impact on any Roman remains. <1>
