Full Description

A watching brief was carried out during the construction of a new computer block. Groundworks in the northern part of the site and the service trench did not extend deep enough to impact archaeological remains. At the southern end a layer of demolition deris containing wall-plaster from a Roman building and a robbed out wall of a Roman building was uncovered at about 700mm below the ground level. A pit containing animal bones may represent the remains of post-medieval leather production. <1>
