Full Description

Originally recorded as Brick kiln Lane, Mile End and latterly as Poplar Lane, North station Road. Brick Kiln lane was a cart track south off Clay Lane. Poplar Lane passed under the railway to North Station Road

In late April 1997 the site of all brickworks north of the railway had been excavated prior to development. The remains of a small C19 kiln and a tile/pipe/pottery kiln was discovered by archaeologists at TL 99652650 <1>
