Full Description

A doughnut-shaped spindlewhorl fired externally to buff/orange. The fabric has some organic tempering with calcite and haematite inclusions. Diameter 46mm, height 21mm, diameter of central hole 12mm, weight 63.06g. This whorl is probably Anglo-Saxon in date.<1>
Found in a modern pit (EF147) at the Butt Road Excavation, 1979.<2>
